This roundtable discussed the causes, consequences and practices of backlash against international human rights courts. What actors are pushing this backlash? How does it affect activists, litigants and victims of rights violations? How are judges and civil society groups accommodating or resisting efforts to undermine international courts? To address these and other issues, the roundtable featured four panelists.

- Francisco Quintana is the Program Director for the Andean, North America and Caribbean Region of the Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL)
- Erik Voeten is the Peter F. Krogh Professor of Geopolitics and Justice in World Affairs at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service and Government Department
